How to Install the Palo Alto Firewall in ESXi-6.5 I have 4 VMs installed:EVE-NGWindows 10Ubuntu 22.04Paloalto-9.0.1 Firewall Login to ESXi Let step thought the install. First, download the Palo Alto firewall image which can be found at: https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/t5/community-blogs/how-to-download-palo-alto-networks-vm-series-images/ba-p/458124 . Since this is a tar extension file, you’ll need to unpack it.PA-VM-ESX-9.0.1.tarTo unpack in Linux, path to the folder where file resigns by opening terminal, in my case, it’s Downloads and type the following command:tar –xvf PA-VM-ESX-9.0.1.tar. It will unpack in the same directory. To unpack in Windows, path to the folder where file resides, in my case, it’s Downloads and type the following command:tar -xvzf C:\tar\PA-VM-ESX-9.0.1.tar -C C:\tar\. Notice you will need to also include the destination in the command for Windows. I also created in C:\tar folder for this purpose. Now, we can continue with the firewall installation: Name and path to files: Images selected: Select datastore: Start Palo Alto VMOnce Firewall is fully loaded, you need to wait about 10 minutes before logging in. The default credentials are: Username: admin Password: adminAlso during the 10 minutes, the DHCP server should assign an IP address. A similar screen should appear: With a successful login: Now, logging in to CLI will place you in the operational mode | admin@PA-VM>. You can change the password by the following commands: admin@PA-VM>configure admin@PA-VM#set mgt-config users admin passwordEnter new password twice and type commit. admin@PA-VM#commit (Enter) Test reachability to Default Gateway: Login to firewall: This password also can be changed once logged thought the browser at the bottom left-hand corner.
